GRAND ISLAND — A North Platte man has been charged with over 40 counts related to child pornography and enticement charges in both Hall and Lincoln counties.
Caleb Smith, 29, in Lincoln County, is charged with nine counts of visual depiction of sexually explicit conduct of a minor, a Class 1D felony and seven counts of possession of child pornography, a Class 2A felony.
In April 2025, Smith was arraigned in Hall County District Court on 30 charges of use of an electronic communication device to commit sexual assault of a child, all are Class 4 felonies.
Smith was arraigned in Lincoln County Court on June 27, and a preliminary hearing was scheduled for July 10.
Smith’s bail was set at 10 percent of $1,000,000 in Lincoln County.
According to court documents submitted in the case, Smith began to communicate electronically with a 13-year-old old in November 2024, with sexually explicit language and material shared.
It was noted investigators had also found subsequent alleged conversations with other underage individuals during their initial investigation.
