KEARNEY — Tim Zach, an independent country artist in central Nebraska, has been nominated in three different categories through the Josie Music Awards.

The Josie Music Awards is the largest association in the country recognizing independent artists from all genres of music. The awards show is being held at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville on Nov. 2, 2025.

“I am honored that I was recognized in three different categories including County Male Vocalist of the Year, Country Male Emergent Artist of the Year, and Song of the Year for “Through The Neon Lights” which I co-wrote with my production team at Fi Jack entertainment, Luke Mills and CR Pendleton,” Zach said.

Zach was asked about how he got his start in music.

“I began my music career in 2009 through a singing competition that at the time was known as the “Colgate Country Showdown” where I advanced to the regional finals in New Mexico,” said Zach.

“After the contest I spent 10 years as the front man of the band Whiskey Bent. In 2021 I began performing under my own name as an artist. The current members of my road band are Joe Parr-Guitar, Bobby Wilson-Bass, and Larry Collingham Jr- Drums. We typically play between 90 to 100 live shows per year,” Zach said.

Zach went into detail about the influences when it comes to his music.

“I grew up listening to 90’s country, bands like Alabama and Sawyer Brown have been influences in my writing and performing style. As I got a little older, I have drawn inspiration from Artists such as Toby Keith and Eric Church. I just really like the subject matter of songs those artist’s record,” Zach said.

One of Zach’s songs “Through The Neon Lights” has been nominated for Song of the Year.

“Through the Neon Lights is a song that I wrote about how I came to meet my wife. At that time, we were performing mainly cover songs and I was singing a Casey Donahew song. When I saw my wife move closer to the stage, I lost my train of thought and fumbled the words to the song. After that we met, and the song talks about that evening,” said Zach.

Zach was asked about how it felt to be nominated and to be recognized for his music and performances.

“In the span of my 16-year career as an Independent Artist, I’m proud of what we have accomplished,” said Zach.

“In the mid-2000’s I was nominated for a few different Rocky Mountain Country Music Awards and now being nominated for three Josie Music Awards feels pretty special,” Zach explained, “I look forward to attending the show in Nashville in November with my wife. If we happen to win one of those awards that would be even better but also I’m just grateful for being recognized as a nominee.”
