KEARNEY — The United States Tennis Association presented a grant to the City of Kearney for the resurfacing of the Harmon Park tennis courts during the city council meeting on Tuesday, July 8.
Mary Buschmann, CEO and Executive Director of USTA – Missouri Valley, appeared at the meeting with a check for $31,900 for the resurface of the Harmon Park tennis courts.
Buschmann said the USTA enjoys being connected with the City of Kearney and noted the avid tennis community in town.
It was noted by City of Kearney staff that there are around 150 kids in youth tennis leagues this summer.
Staff said the Harmon Park tennis courts see heavy use from local schools, the University of Nebraska – Kearney and citizens. The surface is in need of a refresh and the project will start by July 21.
