2024 Kearney Cruise Nite, (Brian Neben, Central Nebraska Today)

KEARNEY — The Kearney Police Department, in conjunction with the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety, will have additional officers working on July 19 and 20, 2025 during the Cruise Nite weekend.

Officers will be out in force focusing on alcohol violations to include Minor in Possession, Open Container, and Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol or Drugs. The goal of this effort is to reduce impaired driving and related accidents.

As always, the Kearney Police Department is requesting that you obey Nebraska Laws and City Ordinances related to the consumption and possession of alcohol. Designate a sober driver, call for a ride, Be Safe, Be Smart. This enforcement effort was made possible thanks to
a grant from the Nebraska Department of Roads – Office of Highway Safety.

“Cruise Nite is one of Kearney’s premier annual events, attracting thousands of visitors to our city. At the Kearney Police Department, we remain dedicated to public safety and fostering strong community collaborations to keep the event enjoyable and secure for everyone involved. We’re grateful for our ongoing partnership with the NDOT Office of Highway Safety, working together to promote safe driving and prevent roadway incidents. We proudly support the Be Safe Be Smart initiative alongside Buffalo County Community Partners, the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office, UNK, Nebraska State Patrol, Cruise Nite organizers, and our local businesses.” said Operations Commander Kevin T. Thompson
