GRAND ISLAND — A suspect is accused of attempting to headbutt an officer after being arrested on Friday, July 11.

According to the Grand Island Police Department, officers responded to N. Diers Ave. due to a report of a male attempting to grab the reporting party’s 20-year-old daughter.

Officers later located the man, identified as Edwin Walldrop, near Gas Island and place him under arrest. Per the GIPD, Walldrop would refuse to get into the patrol vehicle when taken into custody.

When Walldrop was taken to the Hall County Department of Corrections, he allegedly attempted to headbutt the arrested officer in front of the corrections staff. He would be placed into a separate cell, the GIPD stated.

Walldrop would be arrested for disturbing the peace, obstructing a police officer and third-degree attempted assault on a police officer.
