Merrick County Sheriff's Office, (Brian Neben, Central Nebraska Today)

MERRICK CO. — At approximately 2:05 p.m., the Merrick County Sheriffs Office was investigating a one vehicle rollover crash on Highway 92 just west of Worms Road when a secondary crash occurred.

The investigation revealed that a 2013 GMC Sierra collided into the back of a 2011 Honda Odyssey. The driver of the 2013 GMC Sierra was distracted from another crash incident and struck the rear of a 2011 Honda Odyssey as it slowed down due to the crash investigation.

Driver of the GMC was identified as Severt Peterson (87) of Howard County. Peterson was wearing his seatbelt.

Driver of the Honda Odyssey was identified as Kayla Bilau (37) of Douglas County. Bilau was wearing her seatbelt. Two minor occupants were located in the vehicle who were also wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

There were no injuries reported by any of the occupants .

Alcohol and/or drugs are not suspected.

This accident serves as a reminder to stay alert, slow down, and move over if possible. Accident scenes can be dangerous for first responders and other motorists. Use caution when approaching emergency vehicles, tow vehicles, road maintenance vehicles and others!
