GRAND ISLAND — The case of a Grand Island woman facing two felony charges after she allegedly struck a child riding a scooter and then left the scene is headed to district court.
Jordon Miller, 30, has been charged with failing to stop and render aid – serious accident, a Class 3 felony and tamper with physical evidence, a Class 4 felony.
Miller waived her right to a preliminary hearing in county court and the case was bound over to the Hall County District Court where an arraignment has been set for Aug. 5 at 9 a.m. She filed bail in the amount of $2,250.
According to an affidavit submitted in the court records, on Tuesday, June 3, officers with the Grand Island Police Department responded to the report of a personal injury accident on E. 7th St.
A juvenile girl was reported to have been struck by a vehicle while riding her scooter and suffered serious bodily injury. The suspect’s vehicle had left the scene and failed to stop and render aid to the child.
The vehicle was later located by officers parked behind a house, in a field, in between two other vehicles. The vehicle had front end damage matching the color of the child’s scooter.
The owner of the vehicle was identified as Miller, who told officers she had parked the vehicle at the residence, left the keys and then drove another vehicle to the store, according to the affidavit.
Miller would be booked into the Hall County Department of Corrections.
