KEARNEY — An Extreme Heat Warning is in place for the Tri-Cities and areas of eastern parts of the state, a Heat Advisory has been issued for the remainder of south-central Nebraska for Monday, July 28.
According to the National Weather Service – Hastings, dangerous heat is on its way with highs in the upper 90s and low 100s, with heat index values expected to reach 100-115 degrees.
The Extreme Heat Warning and Heat Advisory will be in place until 8 p.m.
Winds will be light out of the south at 10 to 15 mph and will provide little relief amid the stifling heat.
NWS Hastings advises people to avoid outdoor activity, if possible, especially during the late afternoon hours.
“If you must be outside, drink plenty of water and take frequent breaks in the shade. Check on family, neighbors and pets,” per NWS Hastings.
