NELSON — One person was killed as the result of a three vehicle accident that took place near Nelson during the evening of Tuesday, Aug. 19.
According to the Nuckolls County Sheriff’s Department, a three vehicle accident occurred around 6:30 p.m. a half mile south of Nelson on Highway 14.
A southbound vehicle crossed the center line and collided head-on with a northbound vehicle. A third vehicle traveling north could not avoid the collision and went into the east side ditch, striking a tree.
The northbound vehicle that was involved in the head-on resulted in a fatality. Two people in the southbound vehicle were transported by helicopter out of Brodstone Healthcare. The driver of the third vehicle was treated and released.
Names are being withheld pending the notification of the family.
