Grand Island Police Department, (Brian Neben Central Nebraska Today)

GRAND ISLAND — A 17-year-old male was cited after he was found to be under the influence of alcohol and in possession of a firearm at Grand Island Senior High on Friday, Oct. 10.

According to the Grand Island Police Department, officers were dispatched to Grand Island Senior High, 2124 N. Lafayette Ave. in reference to a suspicious male.

Officers contacted a 17-year-old male who they determined to be under the influence of alcohol and was in possession of a firearm on school grounds.

He was cited for unlawful possession of a handgun, unlawful possession of a firearm at school, a felony charge and minor in consumption.

According to Grand Island Public Schools, the male cited was not a student.
