KEARNEY — A new restaurant location will be coming to the south side of Kearney, the city council approved the use of tax increment financing for the project during their meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 14.

Talmadge Jam, LLC, is planning the construction of a one-story restaurant building located just south of the Kearney Area Chamber of Commerce and east of the SportsPlex.

The building will be 5,800 square feet and one-story located on 1.51 acres just west of the new Younes Landing complex.

The project construction schedule lists the start date as Nov. 1, 2025, and the completion date as Dec. 31, 2026.

“The project will provide additional dining opportunities for the citizens of Kearney and other travelers. It will also help the community to increase tourism and sales tax revenue for the City of Kearney,” according to the request for TIF from Talmadge Jam.

Paul Younes, the owner of Talmadge Jam, said he could not release the name of the restaurant at the moment but there will be more information coming in the future.
