KEARNEY — The City of Kearney, on behalf of Nielsen Contracting and Midlands Contracting, announces that Avenue M will be closed from 17th Street to South Railroad Street beginning the week of October 20, 2025.
This closure is necessary to allow for water main and storm sewer improvements in the area.
A signed detour route will be provided, and all Avenue M traffic will need to follow the designated detour.
Weather permitting, the work is expected to take approximately two (2) weeks, after which the roadway will be reopened to traffic.
Due to the high traffic volumes along this corridor, motorists who regularly use Avenue M are encouraged to plan ahead and seek alternate routes when possible. Those who must travel in the area are urged to use caution and observe all posted speed limits along the detour route.
