GRAND ISLAND – A 31-year-old Hastings man was killed in an accident at 6:35 a.m. Nov. 3 in the area of South Highway 281 and West Binfield Road.
The accident involved a semi-truck and passenger vehicle, according to a news release from Hall County Sheriff’s Department Capt. Josh Moline.
A preliminary investigation indicates a 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Sabian Salais, 31, of Hastings was traveling northbound on Highway 281 when it struck the rear end of a 2020-Peterbilt, driven by Anthony Kothe of Kansas.
Salais was transported to a local hospital, where he was declared dead. Kothe was not injured.
Next of kin has been notified.
A Hall County accident reconstructionist continues to work on this investigation. Hall County deputies were assisted by the Nebraska State Patrol, Nebraska Department of Roads, and the Doniphan Volunteer Fire Department.
