YORK — At approximately 11:26 a.m., officers from the York Police Department responded to a report of a possible arson at 101 E. David Drive (Walmart). Upon arrival, officers located an adult male who admitted to setting merchandise on fire inside the store.

The York Fire Department quickly responded and extinguished the fire. No injuries were reported.

The preliminary investigation indicates the 20-year-old male suspect entered the store with the intent to start a fire. Once inside, he used store items to ignite and set merchandise on fire before leaving the immediate area. Officers were able to take him into custody shortly after, and he has been lodged at the York County Corrections.

The scene remains an active crime scene, and we ask for the public’s continued patience and cooperation as investigators process evidence. At this time Walmart remains closed and will be reopened as soon as possible.

No further details are being released at this time. Updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
