Elwood Public Schools, (Brian Neben, Central Nebraska Today)
ELWOOD — Elwood Public School, in partnership with the Village of Elwood, is writing to inform you of important traffic and parking changes that will go into effect to improve student safety and traffic flow around the school campus. These changes are in effect 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
Effective Dec. 1, 2025, traffic on First Avenue shall proceed in one direction only, with all vehicles travelling north to south. In addition, all parking along First Avenue shall face south and be limited to the east side of the street. Parking on the west side of First Avenue will be restricted to student drop-off and pick-up only and will also be available for parking during school events after the regular school day, as directed by Elwood Public Schools.
For the safety of all students, we strongly encourage families to use the designated drop-off curb on the west side of First Avenue. Please do not allow children to exit vehicles in the middle of the street. Exiting vehicles only at the curb ensures students can step out safely and helps maintain smooth traffic flow along the one-way route.
To further support safety on campus, please note that the student parking lot must be entered from the west and exited to the east. This one-way flow is intended to reduce congestion and create predictable movement within the lot for both drivers and pedestrians.
These adjustments are designed to reduce congestion, improve visibility, and maintain a safe environment for students during arrival and dismissal times. We appreciate your cooperation in following the updated traffic patter and parking guidelines.
If you have any questions regarding these changes, please contact the school office.
Thank you for your continued support of Elwood Public School and for helping us maintain a safe and orderly environment for all children.
