GRAND ISLAND – Volunteers are needed to assist with the Grand Island Salvation Army’s Thanksgiving Dinner on Nov. 27.

The Salvation Army is collaborating with Project Hunger to provide free Thanksgiving dinners to those in need in the Hall County area. The dinner will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 27 at the Grand Island Salvation Army location at 818 W. Third St.

No RSVPs will be needed – it will be first-come, first-served.

Salvation Army officials are asking for volunteers to help support this event. Chiefly, volunteers are needed for meal prep the day prior to the event – as well as for serving clients, setting tables, and cleaning up the day of the event. Dozens of volunteers are needed to fill all the spots.

This 2025 event will continue a longstanding tradition at The Salvation Army of Grand Island. In a typical year, the Thanksgiving dinner event serves some 500 people in need.

“We are honored to keep this beloved community tradition going strong here in Grand Island – and we are so grateful to Project Hunger for their outstanding partnership,” Salvation Army Auxiliary Captain Amy Kruger-Cross said. “We would greatly appreciate any volunteers who could help us this year.”

Anyone wishing to volunteer is encouraged to call the office at 308-382-4855.
