GRAND ISLAND – Indoor professional football is returning to Grand Island.

The Arena League has selected Grand Island as one of its new markets, bringing indoor football back to the city for the first time since 2019.

NFL Hall-of-Famer, Heisman Trophy winner and Arena League Commissioner Tim Brown will be in Grand Island at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4 for a press conference at the Heartland Events Center and fan engagement events.

The previous team to play at the Heartland Events Center was the Nebraska Danger, created in 2010 by Bosselman Enterprises. The team began playing in 2011 in the Indoor Football League.
