The Kearney Area Children’s Museum is excited to announce a new seasonal exhibit: the Winter Whirlway, featuring a 128-square-foot synthetic ice pond designed to bring all the frosty fun of winter indoors—no mittens required.
The sock-skating exhibit opens to the public on Tuesday, December 9th.
Perfect for little skaters, big imaginations, and families looking to add some sparkle to the winter season, the Winter Whirlway offers the joy of gliding and sliding across a kid-friendly “ice” surface right inside the museum. This seasonal exhibit invites children to explore balance, movement, and coordination in a playful, safe environment.
“We’re excited to bring the magic of winter indoors with an experience that families can enjoy together,” said the Kearney Area Children’s Museum team. “Winter Whirlway is all about movement, imagination, and that joyful feeling you get when you step onto an ice rink for the first time.”
Winter Whirlway will be open during regular museum hours throughout the season and is included with admission or museum membership. Families are encouraged to come in their favorite socks, and whirl their way into winter fun.
