GRAND ISLAND – Christmas Cheer, a Heartland United Way program, provides a voucher to Hall County individuals and families in need for purchasing groceries for a holiday meal.

Local banks are now collecting donations for Christmas Cheer. The program provides a food voucher to provide a holiday meal for people in need in Hall County. Donations are being accepted at these Grand Island bank locations as well as the Heartland United way office at 1441 N. Webb Road:

*Equitable Bank

*Five Points Bank

*FNBO

*Home Federal Bank

*Pinnacle Bank

You can also donate to Christmas Cheer or Heartland United Way’s Toy Drive and Toys for Tots Distribution online at: heartlandunitedway.org/form/christmas-cheer-donation-form.

Sara Kirkley, communications director for Heartland United Way, said Heartland United Way has about 300 more people receiving food vouchers than last year, and Heartland United Way continues to get calls after registration closed on Nov. 17.

In 2024, 1,081 families and individuals received a holiday meal through this program.

Heartland United Way took over the Christmas Cheer program last year, Kirkley said. Christmas Cheer was previously a program provided by The Grand Island Independent.
