LEXINGTON — A Kearney couple is facing charges following a shoplifting incident at the Lexington Walmart and subsequent pursuit.
Bradley Clark, 39, of Kearney, is charged with terroristic threats, a Class 3A felony; use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony, a Class 2 felony; operator a motor vehicle to avoid arrest, a Class 1 misdemeanor and theft – shoplifting, $0-500, a Class 2 misdemeanor.
Ashley Clark, 39, of Kearney, is charged with theft – shoplifting, $0-500, a Class 2 misdemeanor.
Bradley Clark’s arraignment will be held on Dec. 8 at 3:15 p.m. and Ashley Clark’s has been set for Jan. 6, 2026, at 9 a.m.
According to an affidavit submitted in court records, On Thursday, Dec. 4, officers with the Lexington Police Department were dispatched to the Lexington Walmart for the report of a shoplifting suspect who had confronted an employee with a knife.
The employee stated that they had confronted an individual, later identified as Bradley Clark, about stolen items but Clark had allegedly pulled out a pocketknife and brandished it toward him. He would then flee from the store.
A woman seen with Clark was later identified as Ashley Clark and had also allegedly shoplifted several items and exited the store after Clark.
Bradley Clark was observed getting into a Red Dodge Caravan and law enforcement began searching for the vehicle. It was located parked at McDonalds, across the road from Walmart.
The vehicle then left the parking lot at a high rate of speed and entered Frontier Street without yielding to traffic. Law enforcement observed the vehicle driving erratically while heading south of Highway 283.
Despite law enforcement vehicles with their lights activated, the vehicle did not stop and turned onto Interstate 80 heading eastbound. The pursuit was terminated near Elm Creek after Ashley Clark allegedly contacted dispatch and said Bradley would not stop and would “commit suicide by cop.”
Arrest warrants would later be issued for both Bradley and Ashely Clark and they would later be booked into the Dawson County Jail.
