GRAND ISLAND — Northwest erupted for 41 second-half points on its way to a 71-53 home-court victory over Seward Saturday afternoon in a Central Conference matchup.
The Bluejays took a 31-30 halftime lead on Karson Dyer’s 3-pointer to beat the second-quarter buzzer, but it was all Vikings after that. Northwest outscored Seward 21-6 in the third quarter and 41-22 over the final 16 minutes, extending its winning streak to three games.
Blake Wissing and Jaden Brandt scored 14 points apiece to lead the Vikings (3-1), who hit five of their seven 3-pointers in the second half and finished 8 of 11 from the free-throw line. Jackob Wald (11 points), Chase Sheffield (10) and Dawson Urbanski (10) gave Northwest five players scoring in double figures.
Dyer finished with a game-high 23 points for Seward, scoring 18 in the first half. Bostyn Happ added 12 points for the Bluejays (1-3).
