HASTINGS — Grand Island Central Catholic put on a clinic in sharing the basketball Saturday night.
The Class C-1 No. 10-rated (NebPreps) Crusaders recorded assists on 19 of their 23 field goals on the way to a 58-33 victory over Amherst in the Heartland Holiday Hoops Classic at Hastings College’s Lynn Farrell Arena.
Brandon Cloud scored a game-high 13 points for GICC (5-1), which shot 46% from the floor (23 of 50), including going 5 of 10 from 3-point range. The Crusaders also got 10 rebounds, six points and six assists from Connor Haney.
Gavin Davis had 11 points and seven rebounds for Amherst (4-2). Ryker Boersma added 10 points for the Broncos, who were outscored 27-12 in the first half.
GICC built its largest lead of 29 points with 2:32 to play.
