Beth Roberts, Lexington Community Foundation Executive Director, speaks on the recently developed Lexington Community Relief Fund, (Brian Neben, Central Nebraska Today)

LEXINGTON — The Lexington Community Foundation is providing clarity on the Community Relief Support intake process available to individuals directly impacted by the Tyson plant closure.

Support services will be offered at the Lexington Welcome Center (1501 Plum Creek Pkwy #5, Lexington, NE 68850). Recently unemployed Tyson workers may meet with an intake volunteer to discuss their immediate needs. The only requirement for initial assistance is a valid Tyson employee number.

During the intake meeting, volunteers coordinate directly with four partner agencies (Community Action Partnership, Lexington Regional Health Center, Micah’s House, and the Lexington Welcome Center) to schedule assistance, including food, healthcare, utility, and rent/mortgage support, and inform individuals of further steps to be taken.

Participants will receive a copy of their intake form and a scheduling note outlining next steps and agency appointments.

To date, the Lexington Community Relief Fund has raised more than $135,000 to support individuals and families affected by the plant closure. While these generous efforts are deeply appreciated, continued community support remains essential to meet ongoing needs.

Those wishing to contribute to relief efforts may donate online by visiting www.lexfoundation.org or by contacting the Lexington Community Foundation directly at 308-324-6704 | office@lexfoundation.org for additional giving options.

The Lexington Community Foundation thanks the Lexington community, state-wide donors, nation-wide donors, and dozens of partners for their continued support and remains committed to serving those affected by the Tyson plant closure with transparency, respect, and care.
