LEXINGTON — Jury trial dates have been scheduled for a Lexington man accused of murder following a shooting death.

Aristh Rodriguez-Linares, 33, has been charged with first degree murder, a Class 1A felony, use of a firearm to commit a felony, a Class 1C felony and unlawful/intentional discharge of a firearm, Class 1D felony.

A pre-trial hearing in the case was held on Jan. 12, where Rodriguez-Linares requested a jury trial. A deadline of April 27 was set to file any pre-trial motions.

The jury trial is set to start on June 10 and last through June 18.

According to an affidavit submitted to the court, on Tuesday, Jan. 21, officers with the Lexington Police Department were dispatched to Cypress Lane in reference to a disturbance.

Arriving on scene, officers found Maykel Farinas Carballo, 40, deceased in the driver’s seat of a vehicle with what appeared to be gunshot wounds.

Witnesses would later report that Rodriguez-Linares and Carballo had been having a disagreement when the latter came to Linares residence.

Gunshots were reported outside the trailer and Rodriguez-Linares was seen holding a handgun and coming from the area where Carballo would be located. It appeared multiple rounds had been fired at the vehicle and struck Carballo, causing his death.

According to the affidavit, Rodriguez-Linares told a witness to call the police, and he would place the handgun on the couch in the residence and wait until law enforcement arrived.

Rodriguez-Linares would be booked into the Dawson County Jail.
