GRAND ISLAND – A 21-year-old Grand Island man faces two charges for allegedly strangling his ex-girlfriend.
Bayron Gonzalez, 21, of 329 S. Vine St. is charged in Hall County County Court with felony strangulation and misdemeanor third-degree sexual assault for a Jan. 31 incident in northeast Grand Island involving a 35-year-old female.
Gonzalez’s bond is set at $10,000. His preliminary hearing will be at 9 a.m. March 3.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Gonzalez entered his ex-girlfriend’s apartment through an unlocked door. She was sleeping. He began yelling at her. He pushed her back down onto the bed and held her by her arms. He then grabbed her by her throat and choked her. A child then entered the room, and he stopped assaulting her.
Gonzalez then left the home and was later contacted at his home. He admitted to holding his ex-girlfriend by her arm. He denied choking her and entering her house without permission. He said he had stayed the previous night at her home, as well as the remainder of a week. The victim had injuries consistent with being pulled by her arms and on her neck.
