KEARNEY — Kearney High School will honor its 2025 Boys State Track & Field Championship Team during halftime of the Bearcats vs. Norfolk boys basketball game on Tuesday, Feb. 10, at Kearney High School.

The recognition will take place at halftime as the Bearcat Nation comes together to celebrate an extraordinary season that culminated in a state championship title. The 2025 Boys Track & Field team demonstrated exceptional dedication, teamwork, and competitive excellence, continuing Kearney High School’s proud tradition of athletic achievement.

The 2025 track and field team became the 18th team in school history to bring home a state track and field championship trophy. The state track and field meet came down to the final event, the 4×400 relay. The Bearcat team knew they needed to beat Fremont to secure another team championship and back-to-back state titles. Our school is proud of the back-to-back state titles with zero transfers. Please help recognize this team at halftime as we add our 45th (all sports) state championship banner to the rafters.

“This championship team represents everything we value at Kearney High School, hard work, teamwork, perseverance, and pride in wearing the Bearcat uniform,” said Ryan Hogue, Athletic Director and Assistant Principal at Kearney High School. “Earning back-to-back Class A state titles, with the meet decided in the final relay, speaks volumes about the character and competitive spirit of these student-athletes and their coaches. We are incredibly proud to honor this team, raise our 45th state championship banner in front of our community, and do it the Kearney Way.”

Fans, families, and community members are invited to attend and help recognize the student-athletes and coaches for their hard work and commitment throughout the season.
