MALMO — Lincoln Police said Friday morning that human remains were found buried on private property near Malmo in rural Saunders County this week.
Lt Dustin Romshek says the remains were discovered in an area of interest that is part of the ongoing investigation into a missing couple from Stromsburg.
“At this time we can’t confirm the number of individuals or their identities,” Romshek says. “We will be awaiting DNA or dental records for any positive identification.” Romshek says they couldn’t make a positive identification from just looking at the remains.
“So we are going to wait for the pathologist to do their investigation, which may take some time.” He says there are multiple ownerships that converge in the area of the private property where the remains were found. Investigators will continue to search the area for personal items.
