GRAND ISLAND – As temperatures begin to warm and signs of spring start to emerge, preparations for the 2026 golf season are well underway at Jackrabbit Run Golf Course.
While opening day about a month away, crews have already been hard at work behind the scenes ensuring the course is ready for another busy year.
The offseason is one of the most critical periods for any golf course. Grounds staff spend the winter months maintaining equipment and closely monitoring course conditions to position the greens, fairways and tee boxes for a strong start once play resumes.
On warmer days, like those recently experienced across the region, Jackrabbit Run is also beginning to welcome golfers back in small ways. The driving range is opening periodically to give players a chance to dust off their clubs and start preparing for the season while course preparation continues.
“Even when the course isn’t fully open, there’s a tremendous amount of work happening to get everything ready,” Jackrabbit Run General Manager SaDonna Manfull said. “Warmer days allow us to open the driving range and start reconnecting with our golfers, while our team continues preparing the course for the season ahead.”
On days when temperatures climb over 45 degrees, the range will now open from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday-Friday. However, due to highs expected in the 60s over the next six days, Jackrabbit Run will be opening its range for Valentine’s Day weekend as well as Presidents Day on Monday, February 16. The respective hours are below:
- Saturday, Feb. 14: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
- Sunday, Feb. 15: 12 p.m. – 5 p.m.
- Monday, Feb. 16: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
The course will also be offering 10 percent off 2026 season passes this weekend, starting Friday, Feb.13 and running through Monday, Feb. 16. Season passes will be available both online at www.jackrabbitrungolf.com as well as in person at the pro shop.
In addition to daily course preparation, staff are also planning for a full calendar in 2026 that will include leagues, tournaments, community events and programming designed to welcome players of all skill levels. As opening day approaches, Jackrabbit Run staff encourages golfers to keep an eye on course updates, driving range availability and upcoming event announcements as the facility transitions from offseason preparation to a new season on the links.
