WOOD RIVER — Doniphan-Trumbull shot just 12 of 59 (20.3%) from the field, but managed to escape with a 31-30 road win over Wood River Friday night.

Charlee Richter led Doniphan-Trumbull (10-10) with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Kendall Posey added 11 rebounds, and Emma Hoppe grabbed 10 as the Cardinals outrebounded Wood River 48-38, including 21 offensive boards.

Doniphan-Trumbull led 17-10 late in the second quarter before going scoreless for more than nine minutes. However, Wood River didn’t take the lead until Lainey Paulk hit her third straight 3-pointer to put the Eagles ahead 25-22 with 6:01 remaining.

The teams traded the lead until Richter buried a go-ahead 3-pointer with 1:55 left. Neither team scored again.

Paulk finished with 11 points for Wood River (6-16). Rylee Codner added nine points and 10 rebounds for the Eagles.

Doniphan-Trumbull lost senior starter Baylee Larson to a leg injury with 5:37 left in the second quarter.
