RED CLOUD — A fatal accident occurred after a vehicle struck a train at a crossing in Webster County near Red Cloud on Thursday, Feb. 19.
Around 11:30 a.m., the Webster County Sheriff’s Office alerted the public that Highway 136 between Red Cloud and Guide Rock was closed due to a train derailment.
It was later confirmed that a driver of a vehicle was killed at the rail crossing near Highway 136 and Road 1600, east of Red Cloud.
The accident remains under investigation.
