GRAND ISLAND – The Grand Island Public Library has announced its spring break programs scheduled for March 9-13. All programs are free and open to the public and no library card or registration is required to participate. The programs are listed below:
Dr. Seuss Birthday Bash // Monday, March 9 // 10 a.m.
For ages 3 & up
Theodor Seuss Geisel, better known as Dr. Seuss, was born March 2, 1904. Celebrate his birthday at the library with games, activities, treats, read-alouds, and special guests!
Construction Challenge // Tuesday, March 10 // 10 a.m.
For ages 3 & up
We’re breaking out all our construction toys, including LEGO, straws, cups, Clixo pieces, and more. Come build with us!
Paper Towel Tube Craftstravaganza // Wednesday, March 11 // 10:30 a.m.
For ages 6 & up
Come make different crafts from paper towel tubes! Tubes will be provided.
Connecting to Folk Music with David Seay // Friday, March 13 // 10 a.m.
For all ages
It has been said that folk music is the “music of the people.” In this 90-minute all-ages hands-on workshop, experience traditional instruments like the harmonica, mountain dulcimer, ukulele, and spoons, and even join in the fun of creating an original folk song! Harmonicas for participants to play and take home will be provided (while supplies last). Humanities Nebraska (HN) provides major funding for this program.
