KEARNEY — Kearney Catholic High School has announced that David Squiers has been named the school’s new Activities Director and Head Boys Basketball Coach.

A lifelong member of the Kearney community, Squiers grew up in Kearney where he and his five sisters all attended and graduated from Kearney Catholic High School, and each went on to compete in athletics at the collegiate level.

Squiers, a 2013 KCHS graduate, continued his own academic and athletic career at the University of Nebraska at Kearney, where he played football for the Nebraska–Kearney Lopers football program. During his time with the Lopers, he was a four-year starting center and earned All-Conference honors as an offensive lineman.

He began his career in education at Cozad Community Schools as an elementary physical education teacher, where he also met his wife, Hannah. He later moved to Loomis, serving at Loomis Public Schools as a physical education teacher, Activities Director, Assistant Football Coach, and Head Boys Basketball Coach.

Squiers shared that the opportunity to return to Kearney Catholic holds special meaning for him.

“When this position opened up, it felt like a calling from God to take that next step in our chapter,” said Squiers. “My family and I have been incredibly blessed by Kearney Catholic, and I am grateful for the opportunity to give back to a community that has meant so much to us.”

Matt Rogers, principal of Kearney Catholic High School, said Squiers’ background, leadership experience, and deep connection to the school make him a strong fit for the role.

“David brings a tremendous passion for Catholic education and for developing student-athletes,” Rogers said. “His experience as a teacher, coach, and activities director—combined with his strong ties to Kearney Catholic—make him an excellent leader for our activities programs and our boys basketball program. We are excited to welcome him and his wife, Hannah, back to the Stars community.”

As Activities Director, Squiers will oversee all athletic and co-curricular programs at Kearney Catholic High School while supporting the continued tradition of excellence in both athletics and activities.
