Kearney Public Schools is proud to announce that Peyton Wolf, a fifth-grade student at Windy Hills Elementary, has been recognized as one of the top ten essay winners in a statewide contest sponsored by American Mothers, Inc.®
Each year, American Mothers, Inc., a national non-profit organization that has honored outstanding mothers since 1935, hosts a fifth-grade essay contest titled “What My Mother Means to Me.” The contest invites students from across the state to reflect on the important role their mothers play in their lives through thoughtful and heartfelt writing.
What My Mother Means to Me by Peyton Wolf
In the English dictionary, mother means a female parent. In my dictionary, mother means a little something like this… My mother means caring, kind, and ambitious. My mother means giving all that she has for me and my siblings. My mother means cuddling with me when I am hurt or scared. Shw will watch scary movies with me w hen no one wants to. When she does laundry, I am in there and talk to her until she is done. She takes me to games and practices all week long. Even when she gets mad, I still love her. There is no word in the word that describe how amazing she is.
Peyton’s essay stood out among submissions from across Nebraska, earning her a place among the top ten finalists. As part of this honor, she was invited to attend a special ceremony at the Nebraska State Capitol in Lincoln, where she had the opportunity to read her essay.
Peyton’s recognition highlights both her individual accomplishment and the strong academic foundation provided at Windy Hills Elementary.
