GRAND ISLAND – A Grand Island woman accused of slashing her boyfriend in the face with a kitchen knife on Feb. 21 has reached a plea agreement.

Alianah Utley, 21, of 509 E. 16th St. pleaded guilty or no contest March 26 to misdemeanor third-degree assault and had a felony using a deadly weapon (knife) to commit a felony charge dismissed.

Utley was originally charged with felony first-degree domestic assault of Robert Trejo Jr. and felony using a deadly weapon (knife) to commit a felony. As part of the plea agreement, Utley agreed to having a presentence investigation completed.

Hall County Judge Bryan McQuay found Utley guilty. Her sentencing will be at 11:30 a.m. May 21.

According to a probable cause statement, officers responded to 509 E. 16th St. on Feb. 21 regarding a report that a male had been stabbed.

The victim had left the scene and gone to 315 W. 11th St. Police contacted him at that address. Trejo was bleeding from the left side of his face. Utley is his girlfriend and mother of their child.

Utley and Trejo had entered a verbal argument. She threatened to harm him. The two went into the residence at 509 E. 16th St. Utley grabbed a kitchen knife from a knife block in the kitchen and slashed his face, causing an injury.

Trejo was treated at a hospital. He had two stitches in his face and was told that the injury would cause a scar.
