ARAPAHOE — Weather permitting, work is scheduled to begin April 17 on U.S. Highway 6 (US-6, from Holbrook to Arapahoe, from reference post 120.63 to reference post 130.52, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation.

Vontz Paving, Inc., of Hastings, is the contractor for this project. Work will include bridge work, ADA ramps in Arapahoe, asphalt milling, asphalt overlay, guardrail replacement and pavement marking.

Traffic will be maintained using flaggers and a pilot car during portions of the project. A temporary traffic signal will be in place at the bridge just east of Arapahoe, restricting traffic to a single lane with a 12-foot width limit from the start of the project through mid-summer.

At that time, the restriction will be reduced to an 11-foot width on a single lane for the remainder of bridge construction, anticipated to continue through late fall 2026. Additionally, a temporary traffic signal will be in place at the bridge just east of Holbrook, restricting traffic to a single lane with a 17-foot width limit from the start of the project through mid-summer.

Anticipated completion of the overall project is May 2027.

Motorists are reminded to drive cautiously in and near work zones, to buckle up, and put phones down.
