KEARNEY — The Kearney Police Department been made aware of fraudulent messages circulating that appear to be from the “State of Nebraska Traffic Division,” claiming you owe money for unpaid tolls or traffic violations.
These notices may look official and even include court information, QR codes, or threats of license suspension—but they are not legitimate.
Red flags to watch for:
- Demands for immediate payment
- QR codes or suspicious links
- Threats of arrest, license suspension, or court action
- Requests for personal or financial information
What to do:
- Do not scan the QR code or click any links
- Do not provide payment or personal information
- Delete the message
When in doubt, contact your local court or law enforcement agency directly using verified contact information. The State of Nebraska will not contact you in this manner for payment of fines.
