GRAND ISLAND – Grand Island Area Habitat for Humanity has purchased 15 acres of land from the Bill and Julie Ziller Family.
Located near many other Habitat homes on the northeast side of town, this ground will serve as the future site of a new housing development, named Ziller Acres.
Habitat has contracted with Pintail Engineering for civil design services of the first phase of the project to begin right away. Current planning indicates that home construction will begin on the property in 2028.
“With zoning approval, our goal will be to have more than 80 lots created on this land. It’s exciting to envision the long-term impact this will have on the Grand Island community. Habitat’s homeownership program empowers qualifying families to become confident homeowners, which naturally has positive effects on the children of these households. The ripples are much broader than one might think at first glance,” Lindsey Jurgens, Executive Director of Grand Island Area Habitat for Humanity.
Habitat is grateful for Pinnacle Bank’s partnership on this project.
“Pinnacle Bank could not be prouder to partner with Grand Island Area Habitat for Humanity on their recent land purchase. Finding affordable lot inventory to build decent, safe, affordable homes has been an ongoing need for Habitat. The Grand Island community has identified affordable housing as one of its most important needs, and Habitat is critical in helping fulfill that need. Habitat not only provides a home, but also hope to hardworking families, lifting the spirit of the entire community. We are privileged to play a small role in that process,” said Bart Qualsett, Market President of Pinnacle Bank.
Christie Kelly, daughter of Bill and Julie Ziller, shared, “Our dad and mom are so excited this property has gone to Habitat. It’s in perfect alignment with the legacy they have been leaving to empower people to change their lives.”
Through projects like Ziller Acres, Grand Island Area for Humanity will continue its mission of bringing people together to build homes, communities, and hope.
Grand Island Area Habitat for Humanity is an ecumenical ministry seeking to help low-income households into better housing environments through new home construction. Grand Island Area Habitat for Humanity aims to create an environment of hope, dignity, and a truly human existence for all people.
