Tim Higgins KPS Para – LK Distinguished Alumni, (Kearney Public Schools, Courtesy)

Tim Higgins has been a para at Buffalo Hills Elementary for the past two years, but you might say Tim has been serving KPS kids since 2001.

Tim was on the Board of Education from 2001-2016. Since then, he has gone on to serve as commissioner for Buffalo County, Kearney Visitors Bureau Board of Directors, Kearney Area Chamber of Commerce, Kearney Sports and Recreation Committee, Kearney Little League, Dobytown Kiwanis, Kearney Parks Advisory Council, and the KHS Booster Club. From the boardroom to the lunchroom, Tim never stops serving others.

“When Tim discovered that our schools were short on para help, Mr. Higgins did what he always does, he stepped up,” said KPS Superintendent, Jason Mundorf. Higgins is both a lunchroom para and a bus para at Buffalo Hills Elementary to nearly 300 students. Because of his support for KPS, as well as his countless other contributions, Higgins was recently recognized as the Leadership Kearney ‘Distinguished Alumni’ at the Kearney Area Chamber of Commerce annual meeting.

“I wanted to continue to serve Kearney Public Schools in another aspect,” said Higgins. “I chose to work with the kids at the school. It’s all about the kids. As a father of three Kearney Public Schools graduates, kids are very important to me.”

“Tim has been an ardent supporter of Kearney, Kearney Public Schools, UNK, and Buffalo County for decades. The recognition he received as a Leadership Kearney Distinguished Alumni is well deserved and earned. Our community is incredibly fortunate to have his tireless work ethic and gigantic heart supporting many endeavors. He has donated his time, talent, and even money to make KPS a better place for students and staff. We are proud that Mr. Higgins has once again filled a need for our school system,” said KPS Superintendent, Jason Mundorf.

Please help congratulate Tim Higgins for recently being named Leadership Kearney ‘Distinguished Alumni’ by the Kearney Area Chamber of Commerce.
