HASTINGS — A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for two counties west of the Tri-Cities, while light snow is expected across the area tonight into Friday morning.

The advisory has been issued for Dawson and Gosper counties, with total snow accumulations of one to three inches expected, winds could gust as high as 35 mph.

The advisory runs from 6 p.m. tonight until 9 a.m. Friday, the National Weather Service – Hasting stated.

Those traveling should plan on slippery road conditions with the possibility of temporarily reduced visibilities due to potential for blowing snow.

The rest of the area will see a band of mostly light snow, between 0.1 to 1.0 inches, overnight. NWS Hastings noted that higher totals could bleed further eastward into Buffalo, Sherman, Valley and Greeley counties.

Conditions will be notably cooler and breezy today into Friday, but this will be brief as high pressure aloft builds back into the area over the weekend, with 60s likely by Sunday afternoon.

“That said, until vegetation ‘greens up,’ this could once again result in some elevated fire weather days that we will need to monitor further after the approaching system is behind us,” NWS Hastings noted in a forecast discussion.
