HASTINGS — The work week into the weekend looks to be quiet from a weather standpoint, temperatures will warm into the 80s by the weekend and precipitation will be scarce.

On Tuesday, winds will be the lightest they will be all week as a surface area of high pressure exerts greater influence and prevents any upper-level disturbances from swinging through the area, according to the National Weather Service – Hastings.

There will be mostly sunny skies and winds will be around 10-15 mph and high temperatures will reach around 66 to 69 degrees.

By Wednesday, the main upper-level low pressure area passes well to the south. There could be a few afternoons to early evening showers due to a weaker shortwave trough that moves in from the north-northwest. This will be a meager rain chances at best.

For Thursday and Friday, broad upper-level ridging will gradually spread over the region from the west, while the more active weather will be ongoing in the eastern United States, NWS Hastings states.

Thursday looks to be the windiest day with gusts up to 30-40 mph out of the northwest before winds flip around to southerly on Friday. High temperatures on Thursday look to reach the 60s and then the low 70s by Friday.

The weekend looks to be dry for a majority of the region as more upper-level ridging continues ahead of the next potential weather system organizing along the Pacific Coast.

By far the most notable feature will be the first 80-degree weather of 2024 for a majority of the NWS Hastings, with low-mid 80s and even upper 80s in mainly southern zones especially on Saturday.

Next Monday, April 15, is showing preliminary hints of being the next active weather day with perhaps a powerful low-pressure system bringing in another round of intense winds and a severe storm threat.

However, this is a full week away and the details have yet to be ironed out.
