GOTHENBURG — A wanted suspect is in custody after attempting to flee from law enforcement near Gothenburg, but pursuit ended with their vehicle striking a tree during the evening of Monday, April 8.
According to the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office, around 8:47 p.m., they were advised of a vehicle being driven by a male subject that was possibly armed with a firearm and had an active out of state warrant for a felony offense.
Deputies were able to locate the vehicle near Gothenburg on Interstate 80 and attempted to contact the subject. After a brief verbal exchange, the male subject fled in their vehicle, where it eventually came to a stop in the Gothenburg area.
Deputies were able to locate the vehicle and approached it again, where it fled but then struck a tree.
The name of the individual is being withheld at this time due to an ongoing investigation by the South Central Area Law Enforcement Services, according to Sheriff Mark Montgomery.
