GRAND ISLAND — A Grand Island man who is a registered sex offender has been refereed to the Hall County Attorney for charges of tampering with a witness in a sexual assault of a child case.

On Monday, April 15, the Grand Island Police Department began investigating the possible sexual abuse of a 10-year-old female.

Following the investigation, Jeremy Mason, 41, was arrested for the sexual assault of a child.

According to the Nebraska Sex Offender Registry, Mason is a 15-year registered sex offender for a third-degree sexual assault involving a minor. He was convicted in 2019.

Per court documents, Mason is facing two counts of violating the sex offender registry act in Hall County.

Per the GIPD between May 9 and May 22, Mason allegedly sent a letter to the mother of the child with subtle threats about the child’s testimony against him.

Mason was referred to the Hall County Attorney for tampering with a witness.
