GRAND ISLAND — The Grand Island Police are investigating after a 65-year-old woman reported she was tricked by a scammer into sending money in the form of Bit Coin.
According to the Grand Island Police department, the woman reported the theft of $4,000.
She said she had been hoaxed into sending the funds through Bit Coin to correct an error the scammer claimed she made, for a payment to Norton Security, an anti-virus or anti-malware software product.
The case is currently under investigation by the GIPD.
