It was an onslaught from Hershey High, as the Kearney Catholic Stars defeated the Panthers on the road, 45-7.
The Stars, who led 31-0 at halftime, are now 2-0 and will gear up for a home contest against the Minden Whippets next week. Minden defeated St. Paul tonight, 33-0 to improve to 1-1.
The Stars started off with the ball, and ate up clock on an eight play, 71-yard drive that ended in a Pete Homan four yard rushing touchdown. Hershey would gain one first down on their first possession, but would quickly pick up back-to-back penalties. A Jake Geiser sack would slam the door shut on any positive Panther momentum. The Stars would again go to the clock eating, ending their second drive on a field goal from Solomon Weins.

Solomon Weins connects on his second quarter field goal. The Junior went 1/2 on field goals and was successful on all of the Stars extra points.
The Stars would continue their onslaught with a trio of scores from over 30 yards out. Daymeion Van Matre would run one in from 36 yards out, Atreus May would collect the first passing touchdown of the day from Brant Christner 32 yards out. Homan would cap off the first half scoring with a 33-yard rush for a score.
The Stars didn’t need much in the second half to ensure victory. Christner would connect to Jacob Lowe for a 56 yard touchdown pass, and Lowe would ensure the game would go to running clock when he returned a punt 78 yards back to the house.
Hershey would finally score late in the fourth to eliminate the goose egg on the scoreboard.
Kearney Catholic hosts Minden next week, hoping to extract revenge from the Whippets. Minden defeated Kearney Catholic last year 32-14.
