KEARNEY – The Nebraska Kearney women’s golf team shot a 36-hole total of 618 to place fifth at the annual Central Region Fall Preview Wednesday in Blue Springs, Mo.Southwestern Oklahoma State hosted the two-day event at the par 72 Adams Pointe G.C. Action was held Tuesday and Wednesday with timely results limited due to the implementation and then breakdown of the NCAA-mandated Spikemark scoring system.UNK had rounds of 305 and 313 to come in ahead of 12 others including league rivals Northwest Missouri (628) and Missouri Western (632), as well as Wayne State (657). Augustana won (600) with Northeastern State (608) the runner up. Missouri Southern (616) and Winona State, Minn. (612) were just ahead of the Lopers. Colombian junior Juliana Botero Molina tied for fifth thanks to a 5-over 149 (76-73). Lily Allman of Missouri Southern was the medalist (1-over 145; 72-73). UNK’s next three finishers were separated by just 11 strokes. They were Kansas senior Allison Comer (T-10th/151; 73-78), Kansas true freshman Liz Lyons (T-28th/156; 75-81) and Kansas junior Brooke King (T-47th/162; 81-81). Rounding out the top five this week was Kansas sophomore Beth Grant (T-77th/174; 86-88).The Lopers take part in another regional tournament Sept. 25-26 in Bartlesville, Okla. Rogers State will serve as tourney host at Hillcrest C.C.
