KEARNEY — Kearney Public Schools proudly announces that Jeana Peterson has been selected by the Nebraska Chapter of the American String Teachers Association (Nebraska ASTA) as the 2024 Outstanding Orchestra Teacher of the Year.
This prestigious award recognizes exceptional string educators who have demonstrated excellence in music education and a commitment to advancing the arts in their communities.
“I am deeply honored to be named the 2024 Outstanding Orchestra Teacher of the Year by the Nebraska ASTA. It has been a privilege to share my love of music and witness my students’ growth through the years,” said Peterson. “This recognition would not have been possible without the support of my colleagues, Kearney Public Schools, and Nebraska ASTA. I am excited to continue supporting the growth and success of our vibrant string program in the community.”
Ms. Peterson’s selection reflects her outstanding dedication to her students, her tireless efforts to promote music education, and her exemplary contributions to the professional music community. Her accomplishments meet and exceed the rigorous criteria for this honor by demonstrating excellence in teaching, service leadership, and commitment to ongoing professional development, and maintaining high standards in teaching and business practices.
“Jeana’s passion for music education is unmatched,” said Jason Mundorf, Superintendent of Kearney Public Schools. “She creates meaningful opportunities for her students, fosters a love for music in the community, and contributes significantly to the advancement of music education across Nebraska. We are blessed to have an incredible array of talented music teachers in Kearney Public Schools and Jeana is certainly one of our best! This recognition is well-deserved.”
The Nebraska ASTA selects the award recipient based on a comprehensive review of nominations. Ms. Peterson was formally recognized at this year’s ASTA meeting in November.
