NORTH PLATTE – The Kearney Boys Tennis team claimed an invite win at North Platte on Saturday.
Team Scores: Kearney 29, McCook 23, Lexington 14, Scottsbluff 13, North Platte 8, and Holdrege 3
#1 Singles – Asher Saulsbury 5-0 Champion
#2 Singles – Aydan Nelson 5-0 Champion
“Aydan really played well today. Besides a 5 game stretch against McCook, he was really in control of his matches. Aydan did a good job of mixing up his strategies to win his matches. Aydan can hit winners, but he also can be patient when he needs to. With the windy conditions, Aydan was able to mix up his game accordingly based on if he was hitting with the wind or into the wind.” – KHS Boys Tennis Coach Troy Saulsbury
#1 Doubles – Drew Welch/Kyler Eklund, 5-0 Champion
Drew and Kyler did a great job of raising their level of play when they needed to. Drew and Kyler played their best tennis against the best teams. When they play focused and aggressive doubles, they are a tough team to beat. – KHS Boys Tennis Coach Troy Saulsbury
#2 Doubles – Brayden Kohtz/Kyler Nichols, 4-1 Champion
Overall as a team we didn’t play our best tennis today. We played well enough to win, but I want to see us do a better job of putting people away and not giving them opportunities to hang around in matches. However, I did like how we responded to set backs in our matches. Brayden and Kyler did an excellent job of rebounding after a loss in a tiebreaker to beat two tough teams. All four divisions did well to not panic when they fell behind in a match.- KHS Boys Tennis Coach Troy Saulsbury
