KEARNEY — Eleven Kearney Schools have been ranked among the 2025 Best Elementary and Middle School rankings by U.S. News & World Report.

The ranking focuses on state assessments of students who were proficient or above proficient in mathematics and reading/language arts while accounting for student backgrounds, achievement in core subjects, and how well schools are educating their students. The rankings include more than 79,000 public elementary and middle schools nationwide.

Ranked among the 2025 Best Elementary Schools in Nebraska are nine KPS elementary schools, including Bryant, Buffalo Hills, Central, Glenwood, Kenwood, Meadowlark, Northeast, Park, and Windy Hills.

Sunrise and Horizon Middle Schools were among the top of all the Nebraska Middle Schools ranked.

“Kearney’s inclusion in U.S. News & World Report’s 2025 list of Best Elementary and Middle Schools in Nebraska highlights the dedication and hard work of our students, teachers, staff, and the entire Kearney community,” said Jason Mundorf, KPS Superintendent. “This recognition reflects our commitment to high-quality education and a supportive learning environment. We are incredibly proud of our school’s achievements and remain dedicated to pursuing excellence in education for every student.”

Each of the eleven schools received a plaque and banner to display their designation.
