KEARNEY — Kearney Public Schools is excited to welcome Meagan Kershner back to the district as the new Director of Finance. Kershner, who has served as the Chief Financial Officer at Crete Public Schools for the past six years, brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her new role. She previously worked for KPS in the accounting department and is eager to return to the district.

“We are thrilled to have Meagan rejoin the KPS team,” said Superintendent Jason Mundorf. “Her financial management expertise and familiarity with our district make her an excellent fit for this critical position. She has extensive knowledge in school payroll and accounting operations, and we look forward to utilizing her expertise and leadership to strengthen our financial operations and audits.”

Kershner shared her excitement about returning to Kearney Public Schools, expressing both gratitude and humility: “I am truly honored to return to KPS and serve in this capacity. I am grateful for the opportunity and look forward to working alongside such a dedicated team. Together, we will ensure our financial resources are managed wisely to support the success of our students and staff.”

Kershner will begin her new position on April 1, 2025. She is excited to return home to Kearney with her husband, Kodie and two daughters, Madison and Leona. They are all eager to rejoin the Kearney community once again. Kershner will help fill the void left with the departure of Dr. Chris Loofe who has served as the district’s Associate Superintendent and Director of Finance.

Loofe recently resigned his position to take a new position in Fremont Public Schools.
