KEARNEY — A Kearney man has been charged with a number of felonies, including third degree sexual assault of a child, child abuse, terroristic threats and false imprisonment.

Harley Lewis, 42, has been charged with third degree sexual assault of a child, Class 3A felony; two counts of terroristic threats, Class 3A felony; four counts of negligent child abuse – injury, Class 3A felony; first degree false imprisonment, Class 3A felony and procure/sell alcohol to a minor, Class 1 misdemeanor.

Lewis’ bail has been set at 10 percent of $200,000.

A preliminary hearing has been set for March 11 at 10 a.m. in Buffalo County Court.

The affidavit to support arrest has been sealed by the court, but the complaint against Lewis states that on or about Sept. 27, 2024, he subjected a minor who is 14 years old or younger to sexual contact.

The terroristic threats occurred on Sept. 27 and Sept. 28. All other counts are alleged to have occurred on Sept. 27.

Lewis was arrested on Feb. 12 and booked into the Buffalo County Jail.
